The Ortley Beach Voters and Taxpayers Association is encouraging Ortley Beach residents to sign the following petition, which I have also included as a link in case the formating is corrupt in this cut and paste version:
ORTLEY BEACH VOTERS AND TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION
PETITION
TO: Congressman Runyon:
We the residents of Ortley Beach, Toms River Twp. have experienced massive devastation as a result of Superstorm Sandy. We can recover, but we need your help!
We the undersigned property owners request that the New Jersey Congressional Delegation exert pressure in every way possible to require that FEMA modify the proposed draft flood maps and insist that the final maps reflect the true 1/100 year flood risk. Engineers have concluded that the current maps are arbitrary and full of errors and FEMA has actually agreed. The revised maps should be developed based on sound scientific data and released at the earliest possible date.
We cannot recover fully from Super Storm Sandy if burdened by error ridden flood maps from FEMA that result in unnecessary high building costs and exorbitant insurance rates.
We thank you and are counting on you !!
