Preparedness is certainly better than panic where storms are concerned, but how much attention
can we put toward being ready for future storms when so many of us are just beginning recovery from the last one?
While I am encouraged by the OPEN signs on so many Ortley businesses, and all my shopping will be done locally from here on, I cannot ignore the fact that hurricane season is upon us, and the dunes that are so needed to protect our property have not been built.
Businesses are the life-blood of a community, but without customers, businesses will not stay open for long.
Homeowners have a right to open, honest, accurate and full communication from Toms River as to their plans, not only for continued recovery, but for protection from future storms, along with a time frame for that plan. We cannot afford to waste time.
